Moroccan Ambassador Visits Sidon at the Invitation of El Abdallah

To Strengthen Cooperation and Exchange Expertise Between the Two Countries

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Lebanon, Mohammed Karim, visited the city of Sidon at the invitation of Ali Mahmoud El Abdallah, Chairman of AMACO Group. The Moroccan Ambassador was accompanied by his Economic Adviser, Zakaria Fissal, and began his visit at AMACO Group and its factory in Sidon.

 

He then accompanied Al Abdallah to the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Sidon and South Lebanon, where he met with its President, Mohammad Saleh, in the presence of the Chamber's Vice President, Jamal Jouni, and Board Member Kamel Shreiteh.

 

The meeting discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and trade and economic exchange between Lebanon and Morocco, particularly between the productive sectors in South Lebanon and their counterparts in the Kingdom of Morocco. Saleh thanked the Moroccan Ambassador for his visit to the Chamber and for his efforts to strengthen the relations of cooperation and friendship between Lebanon and the Kingdom of Morocco.

 

The Moroccan Ambassador

During his visit to Sidon, Ambassador Karim said:
“Morocco and Lebanon have distinguished historical relations, and we are confident that these relations can be further developed, given the depth they enjoy at various levels.”

 

He added:
“I have spent several years in Lebanon, during which I have seen that the Lebanese people are dynamic and energetic. They are a vibrant people with remarkable capabilities in business management. It is well known that Lebanese businesspeople achieve success around the world, and they undertake successful projects wherever they go.”

 

He said:
“The Moroccan economy is experiencing growth in a number of sectors, and it would be beneficial to strengthen cooperation between the two countries and benefit from Moroccan industries in Lebanon, as well as from Lebanese expertise and industries in Morocco.”

 

He continued:
“The Kingdom of Morocco has achieved major accomplishments in the automotive industry, which has become one of Morocco’s leading export sectors, thanks on the one hand to the skills acquired by Moroccans in this field and, on the other hand, to successful government policies.”

 

He stressed that Morocco’s automotive industry is expected to experience significant growth in the coming years as a result of successful policies that include building partnerships, signing agreements and encouraging capital to become actively involved in this sector, in addition to the development of Moroccan skills.

 

Today, the world’s largest automotive brands are cooperating with Moroccan factories to develop production and strengthen partnerships. Morocco’s manufacturing successes have not been limited to cooperation with global brands, as a Moroccan car made with locally sourced components will soon be manufactured.

 

He concluded:
“Morocco also manufactures aircraft components for companies such as Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier and others, accounting for more than 40 percent of an aircraft’s components. Thus, the total value of Moroccan industrial exports reached approximately USD 36 billion in 2022.”

 

He added that the value of Morocco’s food, agricultural and seafood exports reaches approximately USD 10 billion annually.

 

The Moroccan Ambassador concluded his visit to Sidon by accepting Al Abdallah’s invitation to a luncheon held in his honor at his residence in Majdelyoun.

 

The luncheon was attended by Sidon Mayor Mohammad Al-Saudi; President of the Sidon and Suburbs Traders Association Ali Al-Sharif; businessman Marai Abu Marai; Deputy Director General of the Industrial Research Institute Maroun Seikli; Majdelyoun Mayor Pierre Saliba; Bramieh Mayor George Saad; Colonel Khalil Al-Saudi; Vice President of Rafik Hariri University Hisham Qabresli; Mohammad Al-Shammaa; Firas Bitar; Moein Abu Daher; Nader Azzam; Hajj Salim Al-Zaatari; and a distinguished group of figures.

 

El Abdallah welcomed his guest and the accompanying delegation, saying:
“Lebanon views its relationship with Morocco as a fundamental pillar of its network of Arab and international relations.”

 

He considered it the responsibility of the Lebanese authorities to work toward strengthening relations at all levels, particularly since Morocco, both its leadership and its people, views Lebanon as a brotherly country and seeks to enhance economic activities between the two countries.

 

For his part, the Moroccan Ambassador thanked El Abdallah for his invitation, highlighting the historic and distinguished relations between Morocco and Lebanon.
